Valerie Parker
Meet Valerie
Health and wellness have been an integral part of my life for as long as I can remember. But, it wasn’t until I discovered yoga that the pieces of the puzzle began to fit together. Yoga and Ayurveda brought my experience of wellness to a new level by connecting the body, mind, and spirit, and that is when my daily practice became a living experience. My practice offers a place to discover self. To mindfully connect and to let go of the driving forces of the external world and never-ending to-do lists. It is a time to be in stillness, and really listen to the true self, resting in the present moment. Over time my own practice, and class instruction has grown to be patient and mindful, allowing the body to naturally respond and energetically align. This is true in my instruction whether it is a Hatha or a yin yoga class.
I recently completed my RYT 500 at Kripalu in yoga and Ayurveda, and I am continuing my education to become and Ayurvedic Health Counselor. My curiosity about food and its roll in health and wellness led to a master’s degree in nutrition in 2015 and becoming a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN). In 2016, I became a RYT 200 yoga instructor and I have continued to pursue additional trainings in pranayama, meditation, and yoga dance “Shake your Soul”. The more I learn, the more excited I become as the world continues to open up. Food and movement are my thing. Before yoga, I took my love for fitness and received a personal training certificate from The Cooper Institute CI-CPT (ACE). I am also an elementary teacher with a Master’s in Education (MEd) and continue to love teaching even though I am no longer in a formal classroom with sixth grade students.
I have always been curious about health and fitness pursuing running, weightlifting, and food trends and how it benefits the body to stay healthy. But, bringing the Western and Eastern prospective together gave vitality to my life, and I am excited to share what I have learned and discovered about the pillars of health and prevention with others. Life is my practice! For me, yoga and Ayurveda practices have completed an understanding that gives me a calm, global awareness and deeper connection as I go about my daily life, caring for my family or enjoying snow skiing, boating on Lake Erie, finding a unique antique and traveling. My practice connects my body, mind, and spirit and brings balance and joy of continual discovery. I cannot wait to meet and get to know each of you and share this life journey. I am looking forward to seeing you at True Nature Wellness.
